Day 1: Arrival at Paradise
As the plane descended, the view of the emerald islands scattered across the sapphire sea took my breath away. Raja Ampat, the ‘Four Kings’, awaited with its underwater treasures. I checked into the eco-friendly Raja Ampat Dive Lodge, a haven for divers and nature lovers alike⁷.
Day 2: The Kri House Reef
My first dive was at the Kri House Reef. The video titled “Kri House Reef: from Drop-Off to Jetty” doesn’t do justice to the live experience. The reef’s drop-off led me to the Sorido Wall Reef and further into Cape Kri, where I was surrounded by a school of trevally and the occasional epaulette shark¹.
Day 3: Manta Magic
Today was about manta rays at Manta Ridge. The gentle giants glided by, their massive wings casting shadows on the coral below. It was a dance of grace and power, a spectacle that will forever be etched in my memory.
Day 4: Drift Dive at Cape Kri
Cape Kri, the crown jewel of Raja Ampat’s dive sites, lived up to its reputation. The world record holder for the highest number of fish species spotted in a single dive, it was a kaleidoscope of life[^10^]. The currents were strong, but the thrill was stronger.
Day 5: Macro Marvels
I spent the day hunting for the tiniest creatures. Nudibranchs, blue-ringed octopuses, and colorful mantis shrimp were the stars today. Each dive revealed new wonders, a testament to Raja Ampat’s biodiversity⁹.
Day 6: Sunset Snorkel
As the sun dipped low, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, I snorkeled near the jetty. The water was calm, the marine life vibrant, and as the day bid its farewell, I knew I was in the heart of the Coral Triangle, the epicenter of marine biodiversity⁶.
Day 7: Farewell, Four Kings
My holiday in Raja Ampat came to an end. Diving every day, exploring the depths, and witnessing the symphony of the sea was a dream come true. I leave with a heart full of memories and a promise to return to these islands where the ocean speaks a language of its own.
